Subtropical climate with two seasons . . .
spring and summer
Almost about the same time like in Europe the daylight-saving
time was introduced to Brazil. South America is
located on the south hemisphere. Because of that the seasons are exactly reversed.
Summer time is from December to March, winter time (resp. spring) from June
to September. The time-difference to Europe amounts 5 hours in summer and
3 hours in winter. The coolest month is June, the hottest is the February.
There are often warm precipitations in the summer wich are for short duration
but really strong. The sun stands practically
vertically, sun cream protection with high factor is a must (also in cloudy
sky and in the shadow).
The subtropical climate dominates in Rio de Janeiro.
Day and night differences are low because of the relatively proximity to the
equator. The climate at Barra de São João is in contrast to Rio essential
less humidity and rainy (this coast section is called «Costa do Sol» –
Sun coast). From the sea blows a permanent easy breeze and makes high temperature
tolerably. All year over you can swim in the sea. The water temperatures sink
only a
little in the Brazilian winter. On the other hand it can occur in the summer,
that one of the labradorstream may «catch you coldly». But this is a welcome
cooling.
