Arraial do Cabo . . .

Arrial do Cabo is locaed 14 km south from Cabo Frio. The place was discovered 1503 by Amerigo Vespucci, which built here a fortress. Today the city is visited because of its wonderful beaches, white dunes and islands.

At the Praia dos Anjos (angel beach) is located the church Nossa Senhora dos Anjos out of the 16th century and the Oceano graphy Institute. From here the boats put off toward the island of Cabo Frio with the blue underwater lagoon. The flashing blue water gave it the name.Only by boat or over a steep trail you can reach the beach Praia do Forno (oven beach), where you can swim very well. In the water bar you can choose by yourself the delicious fish menues directly out of the sea.

Steep streets pass by the crags of the Pontal do Atalaia and from here you have a breathtaking sight over bays and islands. Several diving schools invite practiced divers to the many shipwrecks around the crags.
